Il Buono, Il Brutto, y Il Cattivo

I’m sure I’m not going to be the only one using this Clint Eastwood movie as a reference to the AZ series, maybe the only one in Spanish though. It’s pretty obvious that Game 1 was the Bad and Game 3 was the Ugly. Since I’ve already discussed Game 1 and I didn’t attend today’s game with the other Idiots I will start with the Good.

Last night’s game was a million times better than Game One. The Idiots again started off at Jackson’s on Third for tasty beer, Irish Car Bombs and Da Bulls! KWil was in also attendance, which always makes great conversation, because when you have 3 engineers at the same table it’s sure to be a good time.

Topics included the breakdown of the Budweiser aluminum bottles and whether or not there is air or a vacuum between the layers of aluminum to keep it more insulated (turns out there are not separate layers, just more aluminum than a regular can) and also how come “Mythbusters” doesn’t do an episode on whether or not it actually keeps the beer colder than glass (turns out it doesn’t).

Jackson’s also featured a waitress whose multiple piercings (two in her face under her mouth and she also had her wrists pierced, which we had to inquire about) and green hair. Discussions on other non-visible piercings (if you know what I mean) were also wagered on, although we didn’t have the balls to ask her who would have won the bet. After we watched the Bulls squander a 10 point lead and go into overtime, we headed over to Chase.

Our seats were right behind home plate, although in the very last row on the lower deck. This was unacceptable to Lazy and Angry who thought the section in front of us with 30-40 open seats looked like a better place to sit. But when they started to move down to said open seats, they were immediately stopped by our old, nazi, Muskbagesque usher (Reason #323 to hate Chase Field). This led Angry to be very vocal about the usher throughout the game about how old, nazi and muskbaggy she was (all loud enough so she could hear, mind you).

Fortunately, after the end of the 3rd inning, some D-Bag fan that was leaving early (I guess he was psychic or something) gave us his 2 tickets for seats 10 rows in front of us (there are nice D-Bag fans I guess). This was perfect for Angry, who could now show up our Usher, although the seats ended up sucking and were only utilized by KWill so he could sit and text his GF and GF's son without us harassing him to pay attention to the game.

The game was awesome, as you all know, and I was finally able to see Big Z pick up a win while wearing his jersey (I was 0-4 previous on jersey wearing outings). Curses be damned! It was great running down our aisle after every run and giving high-fives to all the Cub fans in the handicapped section behind us.

The night even featured a marriage proposal, via the ever-loved Kiss Cam (Reason #24 to hate Chase Field). Of course it was some sap D-Bag fan proposing to his Cub fan girlfriend. She said yes (STUPID!) and then promptly dropped the ring on the beer and nacho cheese soaked ground.

The “W” flagged was pulled out after the seventh inning stretch and we celebrated a good 15 minutes after the end of the game. On our way to the car, KWill and Lazy had to use the bathroom, so we ducked into Jackson’s. On the way out we saw our waitress, who politely told us that she had forgotten to charge us for our Car Bombs, and that she would have to pay for them out of her pocket. After some convincing, Angry and Lazy were nice enough to give her the money for the drinks, although would later be cursing their decision.

Well, the W was nice yesterday, but as usual, the Cubs can never win a series in AZ and will head back home to play the Marlins. I’m sure Lou will be doing some tinkering and yelling, as both our pitching and hitting were inept today. Let’s hope we can turn it around soon, I’m not giving up yet, but we need to have a strong May and get back in first so Lazy can update the Magic Number again.

Go Cubs!
