Look at me down here. Yeah, down here, off that ledge. It sure does feel nice on solid ground again, at least for now. And Lazy Steve hasn't even had a tantrum and broken bottles in the backyard for over 5 days. 5 DAYS!
Yes, we can all gloat now. All the trash talking from Brew-Crew fans can return to crying in their Old Milwaukees as they have seen what was supposed to be their triumphant return to sole-poses of first place turn into (if STL holds the lead and wins tonight) falling into 3rd place. Maybe it's because no one in WI can get over the fact that Favre is NOT going to be playing for the Green Bay Yahtzees this year that the Fatties from the North couldn't even pull out one game. Who knows? All I know is the Cubs ARE a better team than the Brewers and finally played that way. Offense. Defense. Pitching. And better looking.
The Cubs return home now for an extended home stand. Harden is finally happy to get a win. Dempster is proving he can win on the road...more than once. Lassie is making sure Cubs Bleacher Bums are reminded that he doesn't play for the Cards when he trots out to center. Soriano is again the Cubs leader for dingers (with Rami), despite missing like half the season. Zambrano proved once again he will break you in half with his knee if you don't do what he wants. Even Marquis is happy because he didn't have to pitch and was able to go out drinking at the worst strip clubs this side of the Mississippi each night.
I could go into all the stats, the matchups, the moronic trash-talking that Milwaukee did before this series...but I think I will just lie back in my lazy boy, have a shot of Crown, smoke a cigarette and get comfortable. For now, it's "No Worries Town".
In other news, the South Side Meth Heads picked up Griffey Jr. Somewhere Dusty is crawled up naked in a fetal position and sucking his thumb wondering how he is going to manage a team without a 500+ home run hitter to "un-clog" the bases. And since there is nowhere to put Griffey in Chicago besides center, we have a new poll: What's the over/under on Griffey pulling a hammy?
Go Cubs!
